Royal Welsh Fusilier Donation

The Royal Welsh Fusiliers Museum has received a cheque for £850.00 from Porthmadog U3A Genealogy Group to help fund their work to research Royal Welsh Fusiliers soldiers who fought in the 1st World War.

This was made possible from the sale of 'The Forgotten Few – Pentrefelin' dual-language book, which was the end product of research undertaken by the Genealogy Group, and a small surplus of a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund who paid for the production, printing and publication of the book.

The Royal Welsh Fusiliers Museum is undertaking exciting work which has resulted in a display at the museum, visits to schools and the projection of photographs of some soldiers onto the walls of Caernarvon Castle during Remembrance week.

The Genealogy Group are grateful to the Heritage Lottery Fund for enabling them to turn what began as a research project into a book that is available to a wider public and also for  the opportunity to support the exciting project being undertaken by Museum staff.

A small number of books are still available and can be purchased by visiting the Porthmadog U3A website: u3aporthmadog.org and going to the Genealogy contacts page.
