BYWYD GWYLLT GLASLYN WILDLIFE

Bywyd Gwyllt Glaslyn Wildlife (BGGW) is a local, community-based charity with a visitor centre alongside the Afon Glaslyn at Pont Croesor near Prenteg.

BGGW exists to protect the Glaslyn ospreys’ nest - the most successful nest in Wales - and to show the birds and other local wildlife to visitors. It relies on volunteers to help them in its work. BGGW invites enthusiastic and friendly people to join its dedicated team of volunteers.  Volunteers are an integral part of the charity and are given the opportunity to welcome visitors to the Visitor Centre and to share their knowledge of the birds with them.

Volunteers are also given the opportunity to help with the protection of the nest from the return of the adult birds from their wintering grounds, the egg laying, hatching and fledging right through to when the chicks finally leave for their first trip to Africa.

We will shortly be giving evidence to a Welsh Assembly Government Committee about

the issues facing older people applying for a Blue Badge –

the scheme that helps you park closer to your destination if you have mobility problems.

Were you happy with the process or did you think it was unfair?  Perhaps another older person within your network has told you about their experiences.  Either way we’d love to hear about older people’s experiences, good or bad, so please contact Michael Phillips on 029 2043 1555 or email: michael.phillips@agecymru.org.uk.

We look forward to hearing from you.
