All Wales U3A Conference 2019 - Learning Together
For those of us lucky enough to attend the ‘All Wales Conference’ of the U3A in Llandrindod Wells this week it was interesting and enlightening
It fell into two main parts; in the morning the most significant part was about last year’s project of ‘Coastline and Borders’ we had music, songs, poetry, photographs and prose from those U3A’s attending who contributed to the assignment. It was delightful to that so many of those members had obviously spent an outstanding amount of time and effort in their contribution.
Regrettably we had nothing to offer.
This year’s project is ‘Castles’ as Wales has more of them than any other country on earth, over six hundred at the last count. If anyone is interested in leading or forming a group to take on this challenge, please contact Myra Poyser
Last year’s two short-story prize winning stories were read one in both English and the other in Welsh
After lunch and linking to the Castles theme, we were educated and entertained by Bill Zajac from Cadw, a transplanted American with a Welsh mother. He was without doubt very knowledgeable but also ferociously enthusiastic about castles, their history, significance and preservation.
This conference establishes connections and cooperation between the various trusts and promotes ideas and shares information that benefits all members
